I would like to start this post by saying that I know Vince Young is one of those polarizing players where either you love him or hate him. I have always been on the "love" side when it comes to Vince Young. I was a big fan of him at Texas, and I still think that the Championship Game against USC was one of the best performances in one of the biggest games that I have ever seen. Everywhere he has gone, he has been a winner, and while his stats are never great, he does what it takes to win. However, now he has to realize the situation he is in right now, and get on the right path to legitimacy.
His latest comments on a Baltimore TV station suggested that the Titans need to play him, or he is going to move on. This was the absolute worst thing he could have said. After the bizarre year he had last season, he needs to show me, not tell me, that he is focused and dedicated to playing football. Right now, he is more of a punchline than an NFL QB, and punchlines are not entitled to a starting gig in this league.
One thing he needs to do is stop listening to the people who feed his ego. His hometown friends are probably the ones suggesting to Young that Kerry Collins has no right to keep you from starting. If he takes his own advice, and keeps a low profile, starts working hard to get the job back, then maybe he will reach his ultimate potential. But, if he stays on the path that he has lead during the past month of partying and demanding, then he will never be taken seriously as an NFL QB.
